The town of Queen Creek is in Maricopa County, Arizona. Queen Creek is a part of the Phoenix - Mesa metropolitan area, and lies 16 miles SE of the city of Mesa in Arizona. According to Census Bureau estimates, Queen Creek's population was only 26,098 in 2009 but it has grown.
Until recently, Queen Creek shared its postal address with the nearby San Tan Valley. San Tan Valley is located in the Phoenix metropolitan area's southeastern suburbs. It has many names including San Tan Heights, San Tan Foothills, and Greater San Tan. On July 1, 2009, San Tan Valley got its own zip code and the United States Postal Service was requested to provide the area with a new name. The name, San Tan Valley, was selected through voting.
Today, most locals still refer to both areas as Queen Creek. Some of the landmarks of San Tan Valley and Queen Creek are the San Tan Historical Society Museum, Queen Creek Town Hall, Ellsworth Brothers Farms, Gold Mine, and Schnepf Farms.
Many new housing communities can be seen in Queen Creek and San Tan Valley and there is still an abundance of new construction in these areas. Different housing communities, such as Cortina, Encanterra, Johnson Ranch and San Tan Heights are located within the 26 miles of the two towns.
The community of Johnson Ranch covers 2000 acres of land and is located on the Hunt Highway at Bella Vista Road in Pinal County. This San Tan Valley community has an elementary school that contains grades K-8. Residents have access to 2 shopping centers, and 5 large and 28 small parks. The recreation parks contain swimming pools, basketball courts and soccer playgrounds. An 18-hole golf course and a 1.5 acre fishing lake are also a part of Johnson Ranch.
The community of Cortina in Queen Creek has a more central location as it is in close proximity to restaurants, parks, shopping malls and golf courses. Cortina also contains swimming pools and a K-8 elementary school.
The Trilogy community of Encanterra is a five star residential resort in San Tan Valley. It is surrounded by Pinal and Maricopa counties. The homes at Encanterra are built by Shea Homes. Encanterra is unique, keeping the principles of modern architecture, environmental health and green living in mind. The San Tan Valley community contains 14 floor plans. The Trilogy Golf Club has a 42,000 square-foot clubhouse and a professional golf course. The golf community enjoys exciting activities throughout the year, training in the supervision of professional trainers, a fully-loaded golf shop and private lounge areas. The community fitness center has a lighted tennis court, indoor and outdoor pools as well as locker rooms with saunas and steam rooms.
San Tan Heights is a popular San Tan Valley community. The former Queen Creek neighborhood is comprised of single family homes, many greenbelt areas, mountain views and its own elementary school.
Recent growth in the Queen Creek and San Tan Valley areas have brought many new shopping and commercial business to the area - and more is in the way. Vestar's Queen Creek Marketplace is located near the intersection of Ellsworth and Rittenhouse Roads and includes BevMo!, Tilly's, Kohls, Sports Chalet, Ross, Petsmart, OfficeMax, Shoe Pavilion, Super Target, Cost Plus World Market, Famous Footwear, Bed Bath & Beyond, Steinmart, Ulta and more. Other shopping centers in Queen Creek include Queen Creek Fiesta and Cornerstone.
